Philanthropy

st-judesThe brothers of Sigma Nu-Gamma Kappa take pride in their service and giving back to the community. We strive to embody Sigma Nu’s tradition of love, truth, and honor through our philanthropic efforts we orchestrate and participate in every year. Recently we became involved with Dare To Play, a football camp put on for special needs kids. The camps started in August and ended with a scrimmage at half time of the mighty CU Buffs football game against Idaho State. We are in talks with the CU basketball program to do a Dare to Play basketball camp this winter. Our other philanthropic event this year was the Greek Basketball Tournament we put on at the beginning of the fall. We had a strong showing from the greek community and donated all of our proceeds to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. It has already been a very successful philanthropic semester and we are excited to see what the rest of the year brings!

Our brothers support other fraternity and sorority events as well with their time and donations. So far we have won Theta Xi’s softball tournament, Delta Gamma’s synchronized swimming competition, placed second in our own basketball tournament, and participated in Gamma Phi Beta and Pi Beta Phi’s volleyball tournaments.

In early November of this year we volunteered in the Be Beautiful, Be Yourself Fashion Show that was put on by the Global Down Syndrome Foundation in Denver. It was incredible to have the opportunity to hang out again with our friends from Dare to Play again along with Jimmie Foxx, Peyton Manning, and other celebrities.
