CLEANING GUIDELINES:

EXTERIOR:

  • Lawn areas should be mowed and raked.  All plants and shrubs should be trimmed.
  • Remove all debris from garden, patio and parking areas.·
  • All patios and garage areas should be swept and hosed down.
  • Grease from cars should be removed from any parking area.
  • All exterior doors and screens should be washed or vacuumed.

INTERIOR:

Common Areas:
All common areas should be cleaned and free of any trash, including removal of all trash from common area
trash cans.  Please use the same guidelines from below for cleaning of common areas.

Floors:          Vacuum carpets thoroughly.  Per lease, we will have our professionals clean the carpet.  If wood floors are in
really good condition, just damp mop with vinegar and water.  DO NOT WAX!  If there are older wood floors,
call us to ask how to clean them.  Clean the floors under the appliances.  Spic and Span is recommended for
                       cleaning linoleum or tile floors.

Walls:           Clean around range, sink, doorways, light switches and any other areas in need of cleaning.  Use mild
                       all-purpose cleaner on the walls.

Remove all picture tapes (soak off with warm water) and remove any nails or picture hangers which you have
placed. DO NOT fill nail holes or touch up walls, this makes walls look worse.

Interior windowsills should be vacuumed and cleaned including all bottom sliding door or window tracks.

  Windows &
Screens:       Clean all windows and screens.  If you live in a house, windows are to be washed inside and out. If you’re in
an apartment on the second floor or higher, wash the inside of the windows only.  Be sure to wash the sill
plate under the window where it closes.

Ceilings:       Remove cobwebs and dust any areas where necessary.

Doors, All Woodwork & Doorknobs:  Clean all fingerprints and wash all doorknobs.

Stain-finished doors – Use very fine sandpaper VERY LIGHTLY to remove soil, etc.  DO NOT USE WATER
                       BASE CLEANERS
.  This removes the stain finish.

Painted or varnished doors and cabinets – Use diluted liquid cleaners or Spic & Span type cleaner
diluted with water.  DO NOT USE ABRASIVE CLEANERS.

  Drapes, Rods
& Blinds:        Wash any washable draperies or curtains.  Mini-blinds should be removed, washed and replaced.  It is
expensive if our cleaners must do this.  Drapery fixtures or rods should be dusted and wiped down.

  Light
Fixtures:        Glass shades should be carefully removed and cleaned.  Cleaning them in the dishwasher works well.
Arrange carefully in dishwasher!  Clean balance of fixture, using care to avoid getting water into wiring.  Light
switch plates and outlets are also to be cleaned.

Heat Vents:    Vacuum underneath registers and wash metal registers.

  Closet
  Interiors &
Doors:            Wall marks should be cleaned and louver doors should be dusted.  Vacuum cleaner dusting attachment
                        works best.

Bathrooms:    Clean shower stall and soap dish.  (Gray film can be removed with cleanser and a heavy-duty nylon
scrubber.).  Use regular cleanser on fiberglass tubs or shower stalls.  Many special cleaners are available to
clean bathroom tile.  Clean grout between tiles.  After soap film has been removed, you can use a paste of
bleach and Comet and apply with an old toothbrush

Clean toilet bowl inside and out; including the removal of stains from under the bowl rim.

Clean medicine cabinets, cabinets and/or drawers.

Remove and clean ventilation fans, soak in a mixture of 2 tablespoons of dishwasher detergent and hot
water.  Scrub with a stiff brush to remove the accumulation of dust and grease.

Kitchen:         Exterior of all appliances should be cleaned.  Window cleaner works great after initial cleaning of any grease.
Clean all chrome.  Place thick towels or other cushioning under appliances to move for cleaning.

Stove:            Clean drip pans, rings and entire area under burners.  Steel wool soap pads work best for this.  For
self-cleaning ovens, follow instructions.  DO NOT USE OVEN CLEANER OR ABRASIVE CLEANERS or
                        finish may be permanently damaged.
For continuous-clean ovens, use only mild detergent to clean.
For regular ovens, we recommend Easy-Off Oven Cleaner and steel wool.

To clean chrome oven racks, soak for ½ hour in ammonia and water (can soak in bathtub) and then scrub
with a soap-filled steel wool pad.  Don’t forget to clean ledge under and above oven door.

Most stove knobs can be pulled off for cleaning.  Remove and clean pans under burners and grates. Soaking
will remove heavy grease.  Wash with a stiff brush and heavy-duty detergent.  Rinse thoroughly.  After
cleaning gas burners, test to see if the burners light.  If they fail to light, clean holes in burners with wire or
                        wire pipe cleaner.

CLEAN AREA UNDER BURNERS TO REMOVE GREASE OR SPILLED FOOD.  MOST TOPS LIFT UP SO
THAT YOU CAN CLEAN IN THIS AREA.

  Ventilation
Fan:                Clean grease from under hood and soak grill in dishwasher detergent and hot water or clean in dishwasher.

Dishwasher:    Clean inside of door and gasket, as well as the exterior.

Refrigerator:   Defrost.  Clean all shelves, drawers and any cracks or crevices.  An old toothbrush may be needed.  Also,
clean gasket around doors to remove any mildew.  Remove toe plate and vacuum condenser coils located
behind or under refrigerator.  DO NOT USE A HARD TOOL TO REMOVE ICE – YOU MIGHT HAVE TO
                         BUY A NEW REFRIGERATOR!

  Cabinets
  Drawers &
Closets:           Washand clean all kitchen cabinets, drawers, and closets inside and out.  Remove all shelf paper.  Vacuum
dust from tops of cabinets if they do not reach ceiling.

Thanks for all your hard work!  We do appreciate it.
